Workshop 2 Announced: Creating High-Performance Environments - The Role of Leadership and Culture

The International Sports Summit 2025 will continue its high-performance theme with Workshop 2: Creating High-Performance Environments — The Role of Leadership and Culture, taking place on Day 2 (13 November) at 11:00 a.m. in the Presidents Room, Duke University.

Moderated by Genevieve Speer, Sports Broadcaster at FOX Sports, the session will feature:

  • Eric Myles, Chief Sport Officer, Canadian Olympic Committee

  • Mike Beagley, Director of Sport Venues and High Performance Centres, United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee

  • Derick Anderson, Founder and President, Invictus Performance

This workshop will explore how elite organizations build and sustain high-performance cultures that balance leadership, athlete well-being, and measurable results. Through an open, solution-oriented conversation, the panel will highlight the importance of human-centered leadership, cross-stakeholder collaboration, and psychological resilience in achieving competitive advantage.

Core topics include:

  • Defining what truly drives a high-performance environment

  • Integrating culture and leadership to optimize athlete performance

  • Lessons from delivering 14 Olympic Games missions and multiple professional leagues

  • Balancing operational excellence with mental and emotional readiness

  • Preparing for LA28 through innovation in performance, infrastructure, and team culture

Following the panel, a Duke Corporate Education-led workshop will allow attendees to translate insights into practical strategies — applying leadership and cultural principles to their own teams and organizations.

Workshop 2 builds on the Summit’s mission to connect high-performance expertise with global best practices, blending the perspectives of academia, professional sport, and Olympic leadership.
