The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has partnered with Stats Perform to become the official WTA data supplier.
The deal will provide customers with multiple feeds, from umpire-derived data on an expanded number of WTA matches and ultrafast data feeds collected by the Stats Perform Opta analysts, providing a detailed match statistics package, to enhance the range of broadcast, second screen and betting experiences.
The WTA will support Stats Perform’s advanced AI capabilities, which bring unique insights into the sport and allow for fans to get to know the players and the game at a much deeper level. The data will also go towards enhancing Stats Perform’s existing live WTA video streaming service, which offers in-play betting. Stats Perform’s extensive sports content distribution capabilities will improve the availability of official WTA data to make it more accessible for authorised sportsbooks, broadcasters, OTT, media, sponsors, tech and fantasy games, giving fans and bettors fast, detailed and accurate tennis data.
Additionally, Stats Perform will distribute the official WTA data to make it more accessible for authorised sportsbooks, broadcasters, over-the-top (OTT) platforms, media, sponsors, tech and fantasy games.
It is hoped that through the partnership, the data collection company will help to grow the profile of WTA players and improve upon the betting experience of fans by delivering faster, deeper feeds and promote integrity in tennis by way of providing two operationally independent feeds. “The WTA has very ambitious goals for their tournaments and players and we’re proud to be trusted to help them reach new levels of fan and bettor engagement,” said Carl Mergele, CEO of Stats Perform.
“Our broadcaster, media, and betting networks are already excited because they’ve seen how high-quality information elevates sport’s appeal. Micky Lawler, WTA President, added: "Stats Perform has a history of creating innovative and trusted content and products that drive entertainment levels and new revenue streams for the professional sports ecosystem. We’re looking forward to discovering new and unique storylines surrounding the WTA Tour and our players and tournaments available in new, exciting and comprehensive ways."
