MLS side Sporting Kansas City have announced that their own initiative, ‘The Victory Project’ will be their shirt sponsor ahead of the 2021 season.
The Victory Project is an initiative set up by Sporting Kansas City, which is ‘dedicated to enhancing and enriching the lives of children battling cancer and all of life’s challenges’.
The sponsorship deal marks a first of its kind in the MLS, with the charitable foundation becoming the main shirt sponsor of a team in the league across a full season.
As part of the deal, a portion of money from every Sporting Kansas City jersey that is sold will be donated to The Victory Project initiative.
In addition to the main shirt sponsor, the clubs stadium naming-rights partner and local medical centre, Children’s Mercy, will have their logo on the left sleeve of the jersey, while Kansas-based mineral production company Compass Minerals will have their logo on the right sleeve.
Sporting Kansas City President, Jacob Reid said: “Sporting Kansas City is incredibly proud to showcase The Victory Project and Children’s Mercy through this special campaign,”
Reid added: “By uniting with these organisations, we are perfectly positioned to give back to the communities that have given us so much. From the jerseys we wear on the field to the philanthropic programs we lead off the field, Sporting is dedicated to being a force for good across the region”.
