Basketball fans from Brazil are set to be able to watch the National Basketball Association (NBA) live after it agreed a deal with Budweiser to livestream games on their social channels.
The US lager company Budweisier, have agreed a deal with the NBA to show weekly games on their social channels. It is hoped that the broadcast will bring in more Brazilian fans, and will have appearances from some of Brazil’s most famous figures. Budweiser has been a marketing partner of the NBA since 2015.
The first live stream was aired yesterday and featured Philadelphia 76ers 111-97 victory against the Dallas Mavericks. It was broadcast live on the official Budweiser YouTube page, further deepening the relationship between the NBA and Budweiser in Brazil who have been marketing partners since 2015.
This news comes two weeks after Budweiser released special edition team cans for 24 of the teams who have partnership deals with the company. Each can featured ‘retro graphics’ in celebration of ‘the greatest dynasties in NBA history’.
“An NBA-Budweiser broadcast will look and feel very different than a regular NBA broadcast,” said NBA vice president Arnon de Mello in an interview with Sports Business Journal.
“The idea is to go where our fans are, and not have them come to us for PR.”
