Naomi Osaka ties up sponsorship deal with Louis Vuitton

Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka has signed a ‘seven-figure’ deal with French fashion label, Louis Vuitton.

Osaka is set to appear as part of Louis Vuitton’s Spring-Summer campaign in 2021 after being unveiled as the label's new brand ambassador. The campaign is being done by designer, Nicolas Ghesquière.

On the partnership, Osaka said: “Aside from tennis, my most treasured passion is fashion; and there is no brand more iconic than Louis Vuitton.”

In a year in which Naomi Osaka became the highest-paid female athlete in the world, Forbes estimated that she earned around US$34 million from endorsement deals with brands such as Nike, Mastercard and many more.

She has also been widely praised for her work fighting racial injustice while competing in last year's US Open, which she went on to win. Osaka wore a different face mask bearing the name of black victim of violence on her way to winning the women’s singles title.
