English Premier League outfit Manchester City have launched a fan engagement partnership with digital payments company Alipay.
As part of the deal, Manchester City will offer their supporters based in China a digital ecommerce and an experiences portal.
Included, the Citizens will have an ‘Official’ programme on the Alipay application, which will offer their fans access to video content, retail products and offers, competitions, sign-ups for online and offline events, and other membership activities.
CEO of City Football Group China, Scott Munn said: “Man City has always been committed to providing our fans all over the world with a high-quality interactive fan experience.”
“Through local related platforms and activities, Manchester City fans will be connected with the club they love. This new cooperation with Alipay will bring China’s Manchester City fans and the club closer through industry-leading digital solutions.”
The partnership with Alipay will expand Manchester City’s digital and social media platform across China. Last year’s Carabao Cup winners already have a number of official accounts on multiple platforms across China, including an official Chinese website and a ‘Citizen’ fan club.
