Award-winning TaP music management agency launches new sports venture

TaP, a music talent management agency, has launched a brand new sport consultancy, TaP Sports, with its first clients including Leeds United and their player, Kalvin Phillips.

The award-winning agency, which looks after some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Dua Lipa, Lana Del Rey and Ellie Goulding, will branch off into the sporting sector, initially with Premier League newcomers Leeds United and the young Englishman Phillips.

The project will be headed by Zoe Prothero, who has previously worked with Coca-Cola and Fuse, which has seen her work with sporting bodies such as the UEFA European Championships and FIFA World Cup as well as the UEFA Champions League and Premier League when working with Fuse.

TaP Sports have indicated that the services they offer will run parallel with that that has made their music management branch so successful, by bringing expertise in building profiles and experience in crossing between the fields of sport, music and entertainment. The business will focus on the two main activities of offering consultancy and creative marketing services, alongside offering a strategic athlete brand commercial management.

As part of their partnership with Leeds United, TaP Sports will aid in the marketing, social media and media engagement for the club, whilst Kalvin Phillips, who joins as the first athlete client at the agency, will support the player and their agent in securing brand partnerships and run the social media and PR management for the talent.

“We hold the belief that there is much synergy between entertainment and sports and an often-missed opportunity to grow audiences worldwide. We want to work closely with the best agents and best players and help them build their profile and commercial value.

“We will work strategically on the brand endorsement side, rather than just transactionally and help players become cultural icons, building brands with a reach far beyond the pitch.

We look forward to working with the team at TaP to help us deliver against these off-field ambitions.”

TaP have also secured involvement in the documentary based on Liverpool’s title-winning 2019/20 season, which will feature Lana Del Rey’s cover of the song iconic Liverpool FC song ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, a project that will support the LFC Foundation.

“Lana Del Rey’s beautiful rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone in support of the LFC Foundation is a huge moment for the club’s official charity and it was great working so closely with TaP Sports on that project,” said Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan.

“It feels incredibly poignant that in such a challenging year for so many that a globally renowned artist such as Lana can help to support the work the club is doing in our communities.”
